We aren't at the climax yet, though! BWAHAHA!
I know this a pretty early post, but I've got a sleepover to go to tonight and I won't be back for about . . . two days. So I'm posting, ultra-quick, mostly because my frequent commenter Annie said she would KILL me if I didn't! *cowers in fear* Hehe!
So, here's to you, Annie, because this post is for YOU! (And all others. But this post wouldn't be here if she hadn't threatened me, so everyone, thank Annie!)
I'm taking the killing thing overboard, I know. Hehehe . . .
Well, here you go!
Serena looked up to me, and it was as if she had switched
personalities. Tears streamed down her cheeks, and her eyes were red. “This was
my first mission,” She cried. “Corey was my mentor. He always told me to stay
strong and not give in, that you mutants weren’t even human anymore. That you
were all disgusting creatures that only seemed
innocent.”
Serena sobbed. “He
was like a big brother to me,” She continued, hiccupping. “But now he’s dead.
Our own boss killed him.”
“Who?” I asked.
“A man named Walker
Finn,” Serena answered through a mess of sobs. “He’s the leader of the
Institute, the one you all destroyed.
He’s trying to get all the escapees back. Out of the whole nine of you,
only six survived the explosion. The other two subjects died only a few days
ago. You’re the last ones,” Serena’s voice was reduced to a whisper. “You’re
the last ones . . .”
“Why can’t he make
new subjects?” I said, and flinched. That sounded horrible. Serena shook her
head. “You don’t understand, do you? It’s you
they want. The other two boys can die – Walker has plenty of subjects he can
replace them with. But you . . . you can’t die. You’re the most important one.”
My fists clenched.
“Why? Why am I so important?”
Serena laughed a
weird laugh, because she was crying. “You don’t know anything. You’re so
clueless. I know what you’ve been having,” Serena’s voice became dark. “Hallucinations.
Visions. Nightmares. Do you ever wonder why you weren’t dying when the other
boy was? You ever wonder why you aren’t flawed like the others?”
I bit down on my
lip so hard that I tasted blood.
Serena stopped
crying and took a deep breath, her eyes bloodshot and her cheeks wet. “Look,”
She sighed. “There’s this project that the Institute is working on. It’s the
biggest one – the one we’ve been working towards the whole time. This was the
reason the Institute’s were made. You’re the center of it. You’re the project.”
I narrowed my eyes.
“What?”
“It’s called the
Alpha Project,” Serena continued. “We’re building an army. An army of people
like you. We have big plans for this country. Too many wars, too many world
problems. Won’t the world just be better if it weren’t shared? If it were just
ruled by one Government, if it had the same laws, if it had the same people and
not different nations? This army will kill off everyone else. It’ll take over,
nation by nation, and eventually leave behind a beautiful, new nation. No more
wars, no more fighting. We all know our world’s going to fall eventually. Time
to make a few changes. We won’t have any more overpopulation; we won’t have to
worry about resource shortage or poverty destroying our world. We’ll be one,
united nation.”
“And what does this
have to do with me?” I breathed.
“Easy. You’re the
perfect subject. They’ve mended it into you, physically altering the changes.
Think of it as a pack of wolves – there’s a leader and the followers. But this
leader doesn’t have an earned title or anything, and the position can’t be
taken over. It’s in you, Celeste. You’re the leader. It’s in your blood.”
“Like DNA?”
“Like DNA.” Said
Serena, nodding. “You are the perfect subject. Everyone else, all the others in
this army, will have to follow you. They’ll obey you to whatever command you
make. But there’s a problem . . .”
“What?” I asked.
Serena stretched
her neck, rolling her shoulders. “The boy, Dylan, he’s got your blood inside
him. And you know what that means? He’s a leader, just like you. And there can
only be one pack leader. So, we have
to kill him, because he’s not like you. He’s flawed.”

There! That was quite recent, actually. This is the actual kick-start to the story, the real purpose for the Institute! Oh, the horror. What will happen when they try to kill Dylan?! *starts crying eyes out*
So. If you've ever heard of NaNoWriMo, Script Frenzy starts tomorrow and I'm going to try it out. Though I'll be at a sleepover for the first two days, it'll be awesome! Oh, the suspense.
I've also joined two RPG forums on NaNoWriMo, and they look awesome. I'm SO excited!
Okedokee, I have to stop writing now because I actually have to manage my personal hygiene and take a shower before the sleepover . . . until then!
You're doing Screnzy too? I'm so excited! Me and Esme already have 7 pages done, and working on number 8. :3
ReplyDeleteI can't wait until I reach the climax of my second book. I'm changing it's title. I wanted it to be 'Angels and Demons' but there's already a book out with that title. :P so it's 'Demons and Angels'.
Good luck with Script Frenzy! Oh, and are you going to join Camp NaNoWriMo this summer? You get to stay in 'cabins' and have other 'cabin mates'. The catch? You can CHOOSE the 'cabin mates' Eee! It's not until June and August though. :/
Oh, my gosh!!!!!! You are killing me!!!!! I love it!!!!! And I am glad you took my threat seriously, because I would have. ;) Anyway, now I kinda wish I hadn't asked for this. This is an AWFUL thing to do to a fan. Post more, more, MORE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am seriously desperate!!
