School Isn't a Place for Kids with Wings

Why, hello again. Yes, it's me. I'm fine, thank you.
Oh, the common usage of small talk. It's annoying sometimes - to me every time I ask someone that I could care less how they are doing and how nice the weather is. So with that said, let's get serious here. I like eating pie.
Anyways, since this is a blog about my writing, I'll have to give you all a piece of my story. But first a little input on how the three main characters, Celeste, Dylan and Daniel, are doing. Right now they're going to school for the first time . . . with wings. Hidden under their clothing, of course, but really they're going to school to attract assassin's, who want to drag them bag to the evil Institute. DUH DUH DUH. Anyways, they have a plan to get information from whatever assassin they can find, but what they haven't thought about was life at school. The kids they'll meet, the groups they'll end up blending into, the enemies and friends they'll make. But I can't tell you much right now - I don't want to spoil it!

Dylan nodded and looked over to Kathryn, who was looking out of the open drivers’ window. She looked back at him as Daniel made his way to our sides. “You three gonna be alright?”
Daniel nodded, squinting in the sunlight. I realized it was our first sunny day in a long time.
“Yeah. See you at three.” Daniel said, waving as Kathryn nodded and pulled out of the parking lot. The three of us watched as she disappeared down the road, and when she was out of sight, I let out a deep breath and looked back over to the school. “Well,” I said. “Ready?”
“Nope,” Daniel said, grinning. “So let’s do this thing.”
“Okay.” I muttered, and we all walked towards the school with a nervous hop in our step.
Honestly, I was beginning to think about what I would actually have to do at school. I hadn’t put much thought into it before, but school meant homework, teachers and other people who happen to have no wings. In response my wings shifted under my shirt, and I stopped all of the sudden. Had someone seen? Then I remembered my backpack and let out a breath of relief.
Dylan and Daniel stopped after realizing I had. Dylan looked back at me. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” I replied, walking again. The boys followed, and I felt butterflies in my stomach. “Just . . . thinking.”
“You’ve said that before,” Daniel said. “And you were worried about assassins. Got a bad feeling?”
I shook my head, focusing on the way my shoes peeled onto the ground with each step I took. “No. Just nervous. I haven’t been to school in four years.”
“You said that,” Daniel muttered. “I haven’t in about three months.”
“I haven’t in . . .” Dylan paused, and then cleared his throat. “Never mind.”

So, that's it for today. Tune in later for more! I'll post regularly, maybe once every few days. Otherwise, I hope you enjoy reading the snippets!

  1. bundunduuuun!! This is weird since I'm thinking of eventually making my characters go to a school too. They go from a normal school and then get transferred to one specifically for mutants. And they don't even know that it's for mutants, so they're all paranoid how everyone's talking about mutations and stuff. xD
